AWMD is a charitable organization registered under the Karnataka Registration of Trust Act in 1988/89 At Mysore- Karnataka.

AWMD is committed to the welfare of individuals with mental disabilities and their families. Founded on a belief that a mentally disabled individual, like every human being, has an equal right to life, love, care, education, training and employment, AWMD provides its services regardless of caste, creed or community.

In order to facilitate both understanding and empathy towards differently abled persons, AWMD bridges the gap between the so-called "Normal" and the "Disabled." By creating community based rehabilitation programs, AWMD focuses on the potential of the disabled within the larger community.
